Black markers on cardboard boxes
I was invited as an artist and architect by teachers from the Art, Design and Architecture program at Elvebakken Upper Secondary School to carry out a SKUP project. SKUP is a collaboration between schools, artists, OsloMet, and Den Kulturelle Skolesekken, with the primary objective of embedding art and culture in everyday school life.
The teachers wanted a project that connected the disciplines of art and architecture and challenged students to work creatively.
As part of the project, students from the Art, Design and Architecture program (Year 2) created drawings on white cardboard boxes that could be stacked together to form spatial installations.
The students selected the theme for the project: Nature and Humanity.
Everyone followed the same rule: the drawing had to begin 10 cm from the corners of the box. When everyone follows the same rule, the individual drawings can flow into one another when the boxes are stacked together. In this way, each participant’s unique line, imagery, and visual expression become part of a larger, interconnected image.
My artistic contribution in the project:
Communicating art and thematic content. Sharing knowledge about the use of visual elements and techniques. Inspiring and guiding participants throughout the drawing project.
